This course provides an introduction to the principles and practices of Open Science, with a focus on how they impact the research lifecycle of doctoral candidates. It combines theoretical foundations with practical activities, enabling participants to apply key concepts directly to their own research projects.
The course is delivered online through Moodle and Microsoft Teams and consists of 12 hours of synchronous sessions, complemented by asynchronous activities and a final in-person, discipline-oriented library session.
By the end of the course, participants will:
- understand the principles and objectives of Open Science
- be familiar with Open Access publishing models and practices
- acquire basic knowledge of intellectual property, copyright, and open licensing
- understand the importance of research data management and FAIR principles
- be aware of current initiatives for the reform of research assessment (e.g. DORA, CoARA)
- learn how to use library services and tools to support their research and doctoral thesis
