Cultural Dimensions of Ethical Issues in Sport:
Challenges and Reflections
Course description: This seminar offers an in-depth examination of ethical issues in sport through a cross-cultural lens, integrating critical theories and applied ethical frameworks. Participants will engage in a rigorous analysis of the complex interplay between moral reasoning, cultural relativism, and ethical decision-making within diverse sporting contexts. The course facilitates a multidisciplinary dialogue on issues such as fairness, equity, inclusion, and integrity in both elite and grassroots sport, underscoring the ethical dilemmas that arise in governance, policy-making, and athlete representation. Through collaborative case studies, comparative analysis, and reflective practice, students will critically assess the ways in which cultural and contextual variables shape ethical practices in sport, fostering a nuanced understanding of the global ethical landscape.
Learning scenario: Virtual Mobility and Virtual Exchange, highlighted by a series of virtual lectures and culminating in a collaborative project between students from both universities: an oral presentation during the last session.
